Worcestershire Country Markets
Producers from Worcestershire Country Markets started selling into shops over four years
ago by supplying Webbs of Wychbold Garden Centre in the West Midlands with cakes, tarts
and slices. Since then the busy producers have gradually increased the number of outlets
and now supply baked goods and preserves to several farm shops, the first community
owned shop in Worcestershire, a delicatessen and grocery shop, as well as a number of
village shops. It’s been a rewarding success but with demand growing all the time the
producers have now set up two special Country Markets to process even more sales of their
delicious foods and locally-made produce.
Working together to fulfil the orders they receive, the group makes a wide range of cakes,
sponges, puddings and pies; bread pudding, fairy cakes, muffins and slices ; a great variety
of tarts, fruit pies and flans ; they deliver jams, marmalades, chutneys and pickles, including
some traditional local preserves with unusual names, such as High Dumpsie Dearie Jam.
This growing group of industrious producers is busy supplying delicious homemade food to
communities across Worcestershire. The Cooks have their own specialities and make as much
or as little as they like to fit in with other commitments they may have; some produce a lot
of delicious food every week for several outlets, whilst others are content to supply a small
regular amount to just one or two shops. We say keep it up, you’re cooking up a real
storm in Worcestershire!
